Ebony Skillens, LPC-S, was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is married to Leon Skillens, III. Ebony and Leon have three amazing children and two granddaughters. Ebony is the founder and owner of Skillz on Wheelz and Amayesing Skillz Counseling Services.
In addition, she owns and operates Ebony Dawn Consulting Services, designed to support and train other licensed therapists to reach their full potential in private practice.
Ebony uses biblical therapy to assist children and adults with mental health challenges.
One of her favorite scriptures is 1 Peter 5:10 “In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.”
Justin Skillens works as the Payroll Coordinator & COO at Amayesing Skillz and serves as our Chief Financial Officer. He earned his BSBA, Finance, and BSBA Energy Management degrees from The University of Tulsa. Justin has more than ten years of experience working in Accounting and Finance positions within the oil and gas industry and multiple years of experience as a fiduciary and has provided personal budgeting services for individuals and families. Justin also serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
The scriptures that motivate his work are Ephesians 2:8-10 "for by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
Colossians 3:17 "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."
Marnie Jackson is a clinical intern at Amayesing Skillz and a Care Manager for Skillz on Wheelz. She recently received her Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling at Langston University and is working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor!
Marnie has a deep passion for helping people through the emotional impact that significant life changes, such as relationship struggles, anxiety, women issues, family conflict, depression from trauma, and stress can bring, and help people heal emotional wounds, reconnect with life and move forward towards a happier life.
Her goal for every client she meets is to assist them in creating a life toolkit that consists of healthy skills, values, and beliefs that will sustain them, primarily through trials and tribulations.
Marnie's favorite scripture is Deuteronomy 31:6, "Be strong! Be fearless! Don't be afraid and don't be scared by your enemies because the Lord your God is the one who marches with you. He won't let you down, and he won't abandon you."
Ikia's background begins in business, where she spent several years in Accounting and Reporting. She accepted her calling to walk alongside others through life, leading her to Counseling and Mental Health. Ikia is now an LPC and Association of Biblical Counselors member working on the coursework for her ACBC Certification. Ikia hopes to one day focus on being certified in both Trauma and Grief Counseling to serve others better.
Ikia's favorite scripture: is 1 Peter 5:7-10 which says, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. "
Marcus R. Harper serves as our Chief Operations Officer at Skillz on Wheelz. He is a career law enforcement professional with 28 years of experience. During those past 28 years with the Tulsa Police Department, Marcus attained the rank of Lieutenant and has been responsible for the day-to-day supervision/operation of the following specialty units: Diversified Crimes, Burglary, Homicide, and the Major Crimes Unit.
Marcus's motivational scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
Known to most as "Coach Skillz," Leon Skillens III was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is married to Ebony Skillens; and has three exceptional children and two grandbabies! He is a devout believer in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Leon has ten years of experience as a Certified Case Manager II and specializes in motivating and encouraging his preferred population of Black males.
Leon recently received his Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling at Langston University and is working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor!
His favorite scripture passage is Psalms 1:1, "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful."
Michael is currently working as Clinical Director for Amayesing Skillz while also serving as a therapist on Skillz on Wheelz. He attended the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelor of arts in Sociology/Criminology and a Communications minor. He later earned his Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Langston University.
Michael has worked in the mental health/behavioral health field for nearly ten years, starting as a case manager and linking and referring low-income clients with community resources.
Michael is a proud Tulsan and enjoys serving the community that helped shape and mold him into who he is today. Michael has experience working with diverse populations and varying age groups, from children to adults. However, his preferred population is adolescents and teenagers, especially those from low economic backgrounds. Individuals who represent this demographic are at a delicate stage in their lives in which they experience varying life changes, challenges, and opportunities for growth as they transition into adulthood.
One of the biblical scriptures that motivates his work is Proverbs 11:25, which says, "Generous persons will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed."
Raena Marick was born in Boston, and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She is passionate about kids and spends her free time baking. She attended Tulsa Community College where she received her associates in applied science and social work. She is currently attending Northeastern State University with plans to complete her bachelor's of social work.
Raena's favorite scripture is Isaiah 26:3, "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
Dwayne was born and raised on the north side of Tulsa. Dwayne graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Dwayne worked hard during his first year of college and propelled himself towards the top of his first-year class. He would pursue nursing over the next few years at one of Oklahoma's HBCUs.
During a clinical rotation at a local psychiatric hospital, he was introduced to counseling in the form of a psych group. He was immediately intrigued by the shared vulnerability, honesty, and healing aspects. Dwayne then pursued a counseling degree. In the next six years, he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Services and a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling. He later received his LPC and began working with adolescent males and their families involved in the juvenile justice system.
Dwayne continues to work with adolescent males and females, adults, and children to encourage them not to let their current situation define their outcome.
The biblical scripture that motivates his work is Philippians 4:6, which says "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God".
Kimberly is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Equine Therapy. This alternative therapy uses the horse as a partner during the sessions as clients work toward their therapeutic goals. By implementing Equine Therapy, Kimberly can offer her clients a less stressful environment to confront the life issues causing conflict and not function to the best of their ability.
Kimberly is a native of North Tulsa and completed the Masters of Rehabilitation Counseling program at Langston University-Tulsa in 2017. Kimberly enjoys working with different community organizations to collaborate and bring effective resources to improve the lives of those in the North Tulsa community.
The biblical scripture that motivates her work is Joshua 1:9, which says, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
